A church has been attacked by vandals eight times in the past month.

St Bartholomew’s Church in Beltinge has had 73 panes of window glass smashed. The damage is estimated at £3,000.

A breeze block was also recently hurled through the window at St Mary the Virgin in Reculver, a sister church of St Bartholomew’s, causing an estimated £300 damage.

The vicar for both churches, the Rev Ronald Hawkes, described the vandalism as “a nightmare”.

“They have wasted our time and they have wasted the police’s time,” he said.

Anyone with information is asked to 01227 762055, or police on 999 if the crime is in progress.
