AN 18-year-old man suffered serious injuries when a gang of men chased the car he was in and threw concrete bricks.

The victim and four friends were in a blue Fiat Punto in Shellness Road, Leysdown, Sheerness, when the attack happened in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A large group of men began to run after the car in the Promenade. The bricks that were thrown smashed the rear window and driver's window.

Police say they believe a brick hit the victim in the head, fracturing his skull.

The victim and his friends, who had travelled to the area from Croydon on the Friday morning, had been threatened by a group of men the previous evening.

PC Philip Dring, who is leading the investigation, said: "This was a vicious attack that has left a young man with serious injuries. We know a number of young people were in the area at the time and I would urge them to come forward and help us with our enquiries."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 01795 419306 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
