A Kent man held behind bars after being involved in anti-government protests in Thailand has been freed.

Jeff Savage, from Tonbridge, admitted violating an emergency decree imposed during Bangkok's two-month-long protests.

He was arrested after being caught on camera apparently threatening to burn down a shopping centre.

The former royal porter - who moved to Thailand nine years ago -had been sentenced to three months in prison.

But the judge said Mr Savage had no political stake in the protest, and will be deported.

He is expected to return to the UK in the next few days.
