Thousands partied right through the weekend at the first music festival of its kind.

More than 3,000 fans were expected to pour into Hope Farm for the Sellindge Music Festival.

The sunblock came out on Sunday, as temperatures were predicted to hit 26 degrees Celsius.

The music was just as hot, with fans rocking to the likes of chart band Idlewild the day before.

The band, which had a number nine hit with American English in 2002, went down a storm with the festival-goers.

They played alongside Syd Arthur and The Hair.

Visitors also enjoyed a mix of indie, dance and folk music, as well as

a fun fair and craft stalls.

The two-day event was the brainchild of Andre Double, who is fulfilling his

grandfather's ambition to stage his own music festival.

Speaking at the festival, Mr Double said, "Getting a band like Idlewild was

hard work- there was a lot of negotiating and give and take from both

parties.

"It is hard when you are a new festival on the scene- you are a bit of an

unknown quantity, but the main thing is I have a good team around me."
