A SEVERE weather warning was issued in Kent this morning as dense fog covered most of the county.

The Met Office issued the warning for London and much of the South East. Kent Police urged motorists to drive with extra care as the bad weather continued.

Drivers were advised to check the weather forecast and road conditions before travelling, to keep fog lights on even when roads seem clear and be extra alert for hazards, and to allow extra stopping room and time for journeys.

Pedestrians and cyclists were also being warned to be vigilant in making sure they can be seen by motorists.
