Warning over drug-driving

Driving under the influence of drugs is as dangerous as drink driving, according to Kent police.

Acting Chief Insp Paul Selwood spoke to KentOnline as a new TV campaign is launched to stop people driving under the influence of drugs.

And he says the warning goes out to people who're taking medication too.

Those on prescription drugs can be made to feel more drowsy - or even more aggressive - when under the influence, he said.

According to the latest figures, one in 10 young men in Kent have admitted taking drugs and then driving.

And, according to Mr Selwood, the trend is particularly worrying among the county's teenagers.

Television ads are being screened tonight, which will show the police can tell if drivers are high behind the wheel.
