We will not yield to pirates: Foreign Office

Rachel and Paul Chandler, missing off the Seychelles

The Foreign Office insists it will not pay a ransom to secure the release of a Kent couple being held by pirates.

Last night the people claiming to hold Paul and Rachel Chandler, of Tunbridge Wells, demanded a figure of $7m.

Official Government policy is against such payments.

It is thought negotiations are under way with the pair's family to secure their release.
