Mike Scott: pleased developers listened to concerns
Jean Godfrey: supports the changes
Roger Gurling: Happy too with the plans

Now that developers have put forward the latest plans, we asked some residents what they think.

Jean Godfrey, from Miskin Road, said she supports the changes.

She said: “I’m for an improvement to the town centre. I have not got an objection to Tesco coming in, like a lot of people.

“One of my biggest concerns is the amount of traffic that could be brought in.

“I’ve also got concerns regarding the two-way system that is proposed in Highfield Road.”

Another resident, Roger Gurling from Colney Road, is happy with the plans.

Mr Gurling believed it would be good to have residents in the town centre and would bring life to the town.

He said: “Overall I quite like what I see. It looks like it is going to maintain something of a rural atmosphere.

“It’s good to have town centre residents. If it was all retail then the town centre would die. I’m glad about the heights of the buildings, I would not want to see the buildings any taller than seven floors.”

Jean White, from the Hesketh Park area, has mixed feelings.

She said: “I don’t know what’s wrong with Dartford, there are only a few properties along Lowfield that are empty.

“Dartford is an old town with character and these flats look like a whole load of squares. I do like the idea of the Victorian park though.”

Mike Scott, from Francis Road, was pleased to see developers had listened to concerns.

He said: “I’m happy with the designs, it is a great deal better than the plans in February.

“They have obviously listened to people’s concerns.

“I think the seven stories is about as high as it should be."
