A romantic dream of a white wedding came true in more ways than one for one snowbound couple.

Volunteers rallied round to help Tracey and Matthew Bond get married on Friday at the church in the remote village of Dode, near Luddesdown.

The couple were unsure if their special day would go ahead after snow covered the routes into the village.

But farmers helped clear roads and pathways, and following an appeal in the Medway Messenger and on kmfm volunteers with 4x4s transported Tracey, looking resplendent in light pink, and Matthew’s guests to the venue.

Mum-of-one Tracey said: “It was really brilliant., It was nothing like we’d planned, but it was a fantastic day.

“I think my dress got a bit dirty in the snow but I had boots on underneath so I didn’t slip, and all the bridesmaids were wearing big woolly coats.”
“It was a day to remember.”

The couple were due to eat at Dode following the ceremony but were unable to do so because of weather difficulties.

Tracey said: “Our evening venue, Little Hermitage, ended up hosting our meal and without them there wouldn’t have been a party afterwards.

“We want to thank all of our 4x4 drivers for getting the guests to the wedding, Luddesdown Organic Farm for ploughing the roads for us and our caterer who prepared everything in unfamiliar kitchens with staff he didn’t know.”
