WINIFRED Humphrey, a 102-year-old woman who was "evicted" from a Kent care home because her money had run out, has died.

Mrs Humphrey left Bradley House care home in Tankerton, near Whitstable, less than three weeks ago and moved to a new home nearby.

Members of her family, including her son Allan, had warned she might not survive the stress of the move. Mrs Humphrey died last night.

She had been asked to leave the care home after the owners ended their contract with Kent County Council who had paid her fees since the capital from the sale of her home ran out. She left along with 11 other residents.

The owners of the home, Lifestyle Care Homes, have so far declined to comment on Mrs Humphrey's death.
