Winter wonderland falls victim to weather

MORE than 250 families have been turned away from the Lapland experience at Bedgebury Forest, Goudhurst, because of storm force winds.

The Forestry Commission took the decision on Saturday to close the magical white Christmas attraction the following day because of the dangers of falling branches and trees.

It was closed again today due to storm force winds.

As many people as possible were contacted about the closures.

Caroline Edmunds, a spokeswoman for Mike Battle's Lapland UK, said everything was being done to get the disappointed families booked in.

She added: "Our problem is now one of logistics. There is nothing we can do about the weather but our absolute top priority is the safety of parents and children."
