A woman from Strood was assaulted on a train by a man who dragged her to the floor before kicking her.

The 49-year-old was targeted in what is thought to have been a random attack on a late-night service near Gravesend.

She was left with bruising to her arms and legs on the high-speed train from London’s St Pancras to Faversham.

Her attacker is described as white, about 6ft 4in and was wearing a black blazer and white polo shirt.

British Transport Police officers are now appealing for witnesses.

DC Andy Parkinson said: "We are keen to speak to anyone who was onboard at the time and who witnessed the incident. In particular we want to speak to a black man who came to the woman’s aid as she was being attacked.

"If you were on the service at the time, or have any information that could assist us, we want to hear from you."

The incident happened at about 11pm on Sunday, November 27, but details have only just been release by police.

Anyone with information is asked to phone BTP on 0800 40 50 40.
