A WOMAN from Kent has died in a two-car collision in the north-east of England.

The tragedy happened on Wednesday evening. Police say the 60-year-old woman, from Margate, was driving a Honda Civic that was involved in a collision with an Audi Quattro driven by a 41-year-old man from Durham.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. She has not yet been named.

The crash happened at 7.40pm on the A68 at West Butsfield, near Consett. The Audi driver was treated in hospital for a minor chest injury.
