This was the devastating scene after a car smashed into a house on Tuesday.

Police say the Toyota RAV4 went out of control and crashed into the five-bedroomed property at Tenterden Road, Biddenden, at about 4pm.

The 4x4 had ploughed through the front garden, smashed through the front door and embedded itself into the hallway and lounge.

Owner Darren Wilson had been at the side of the house when the crash happened and said: "I heard this almighty bang and it felt like the force of a sonic boom.

"I just assumed it was a crash on the road. but when I went to look I was absolutely stunned that the car was in my house."

Mr Wilson, 38, then helped the shocked woman driver out of the car.

She, like Mr Wilson, was unhurt and was later driven home by friends.

Firefighters joined police at the scene and a recovery truck was also called to take away the car once the scene was made safe.
