A POLICE car was rammed as two would-be thieves fled the scene of an attempted break-in at Longfield near Dartford.

Two police officers spotted the pair trying to break into the Waitrose store in London Road at about 3am on Saturday. The duo jumped into a blue Ford Sierra and rammed the car to get away.

The officers followed the men to Thamesmead where they dumped their vehicle and made off on foot. The men are both white and of slim build.

Anyone who saw the incident at Longfield or think they may know something about it is asked to call DC Mark Stewart or DS Andy Mace on 01322 283154.
