"There are must-win games. We know what they are and are plotting that path accordingly"

CHARLTON head coach Les Reed has set his team a survival target and admitted to cherry-picking the games from which he believes the side can extract vital points.

Charlton's performance against Liverpool was described by television pundit Alan Hansen as the worst he had seen from a Premier League side and things got worse for the Addicks when they were dumped out of the Carling Cup at home by League 2 side Wycombe.

But Reed is trying to remain upbeat. He said: "I’ve got my own targets set for survival and there are must-win games.

"We know what they are and are plotting that path accordingly. At the moment we’re off that path.

"I’ve set a 42 point target with a probability of more on the basis that we need a margin for error. It wouldn’t surprise me if it takes 40 points – or less."
