CHATHAM’S WBU bantamweight champion Johnny Armour is heading for sunnier climes next week as he prepares for his first defence.

Armour and his team are leaving for a 17-day high-altitude training trip to Lanzarote before he faces Francis Ampofo in April.

Among the party will be former Commonwealth flyweight champion Peter Culshaw who will be Armour's sparring partner.

Armour has been assured the fight will be held at York Hall in Bethnal Green but is waiting on Sky to confirm a date.
