SAM NORTHEAST: "This was a good opportunity to prove I have something to give the game"

KENT’S teenage batsman Sam Northeast was top scorer for Sir Paul Getty’s XI in Tuesday’s clash with the Sri Lankan’s on the Wormsley private estate in Buckinghamshire.

The 16-year-old from Walmer near Deal hit an unbeaten 62 in the host side’s winning 50-over total of 195 for five.

Played out on a slow pitch and in bitterly cold conditions, Northeast reached his half century from 133 balls and with three fours.

Matt Dennington also impressed by scoring 34 in a game that also featured Kent's Rob Ferley, Matt Dennington and Simon Cusden.
