BENTLEY: "If it's Iffy (Onuora) then great but if it's not then we want that new man in"

GILLINGHAM'S Mark Bentley is hoping a new manager will be installed this week to give the players a much-needed boost.

The Gills suffered a seventh straight away defeat at Carlisle on Saturday and Bentley is keen to see the long wait for a permanent successor to Ronnie Jepson end soon.

"We’ve had some disappointing results and we need a lift," he said.

"We want to be in the top half of the league, and we’re not. It will be a big lift if someone new comes in.

"They keep mentioning names. Mark Stimson was mentioned but we haven’t been told anything. Hopefully something might be sorted next week.

"We’re aiming for next Saturday now and we want to pick three points up. If it’s Iffy (Onuora) then great but if it’s not then we want that new man in."
