THE Kent Cricket Board is organising cricket development sessions for girls of primary and secondary school age.

The emphasis will be on playing mini matches using Kwik Cricket and soft ball equipment. No previous experience of the game is necessary. The three-hour sessions all start at 10am and cost £3.

Sessions start on Sunday at the HSBC Sports Ground, Lennard Road, Beckenham, and are also on Sunday, May 5, at Sutton Valence School, near Maidstone, and the University of Kent at Canterbury.

Girls who show promise will be invited to attend further coaching sessions with county development squads.

David Sear, Kent Cricket development officer said: "We would love to see more girls taking up cricket at an early age. We know they are out there because we have seen them in their school Kwik Cricket teams and they are really talented."

Further information is available from David Sear at the Development Office, Kent Cricket Board, St Lawrence Ground, Old Dover Road, Canterbury, Kent CT1 3NZ, telephone 01227 456886, extension 213.
