Blackman moves to hometown club

STRIKER Lloyd Blackman has left Welling to join his hometown club Folkestone.

The forward, who struggled to hold down a regular place at Park View Road since joining in pre-season, scored just two goals for the Wings.

Despite playing in more than 20 Blue Square South games, Blackman failed to register a league goal for Welling.

His departure follows hot on the heels of manager Neil Smith and assistant manager Stuart Nethercott, who have had their playing contracts settled.

Smith, who still has a one-match suspension to serve, is being linked with a move to Bromley while Nethercott - who played only four games in a six-month spell at Welling - is reported to have joined Wivenhoe.
