EUELL: often the subject of transfer speculation

CHARLTON have turned down a bid from Birmingham for unsettled midfielder Jason Euell.

Though manager Alan Curbishley dismissed the offer, the Blues are expected to try again for the club’s record signing who cost £4.75million from Wimbledon in July 2001.

Manager Alan Curbishley confirmed: "We have received a bid from Birmingham for Jason Euell but their valuation is nowhere near what we think the player is worth."

Euell, who has been the subject of constant transfer speculation, missed the club’s 2-1 win at Watford on Saturday.

Curbishley admitted: "Jason came to see me and said that if he wasn’t going to play for 90 minutes he would rather play in the reserve team friendly at Sutton, which is what he did."

Goals from Francis Jeffers and Danny Murphy earned Charlton a 2-1 win. They complete their senior pre-season preparation on Saturday at home to AEK Athens.
