Garry Richards will be reported to the FA

Brentford manager Andy Scott will be reporting Gillingham defender Garry Richards to the FA for his part in a brawl on Saturday.

The visitors had striker Nathan Elder sent-off by referee Oliver Langford following a 68th minute skirmish, involving most of the players from both sides, but the Brentford boss felt Richards had head-butted one of his players.

“All we’re looking for is a bit of fairness from the officials,” said Scott.

“If it was a red for Nathan Elder it should have been a red card for Garry Richards.

“In this day of age I’m not sure he’ll get away with it and we’ll be making our point to the FA that Garry Richards should be banned after what he did.”

Gillingham are already facing a festive period without captain Barry Fuller, after he was sent off for serious foul play. He’ll miss the next three games while Mark Bentley will also miss the visit of Wycombe after collecting his fifth booking.
