TWO members of St Mary's Boxing Club, Chatham, have been selected to train with the England cadet squad. Todd Mills and Levi Hegarty go to Crystal Palace for training between March 29-31.

Trainer Charlie Rumble said that the pair had worked hard for their call up. He said: "Todd's been there before but it's Levi's first time and they both deserve their call-up because they've worked very hard. It will be a great experience for them both."

Also at St Mary's, Mark Hilden takes to the ring in the first round of the junior Amatuer Boxing Association tournament but all eyes are on the imminent senior semi finals. St Mary's has three fighters hoping to make the final but all will have to be at their best to get there.

John Convey takes on highly rated Derry Matthews (Salisbury ABC, Liverpool), Aaron Gardener take on A Mern (Salisbury ABC) and Jerome Xavier takes on Lenny Dawes (Rosehill ABC, Surrey). Mr Rumble said: "The boys are in the gym and they're looking strong and there's no reason why they can't do the business."

*Medway Golden Gloves are promising to raise the roof at their dinner show on April 5. One of the trainers, Keith Rose, said that although the fighters for the 12 bouts had yet to be finally confirmed, they would shake the rafters at the George Hotel on New Road. Tickets for the event are going fast but for more information you can call Keith on 01634 296101.
