Matt Carruthers returns after missing the 3-1 win over Eastleigh

Welling United v Hayes

WELLING boss Adrian Pennock welcomes back Matt Carruthers to the squad for Saturday's Nationwide Conference South clash against Hayes at Park View Road.

Carruthers missed the 3-1 victory over Eastleigh because he was the best man at his brother's wedding and his return is a boost.

Pennock will also include Mark Saunders in the midfield after an impressive debut at the weekend.

The 34-year-old has been out of action for 13 months following a broken leg but his class and experience should benefit the Wings as he looks to regain full match fitness.

Pennock said: "Mark gave us that bit of quality and organisation in midfield but he is still a long way off fitness-wise.

"I was pleased for him, he had a fifty-fifty challenge in the first 10 minutes (against Eastleigh) and came out the stronger.

"Mark has given the dressing room a lift and he’ll keep players on their toes. If we can attract that calibre of player to the club then it can only be a good thing."
