Chatham Town enjoyed a historic FA Cup win on Saturday afternoon to leave them potentially just 90 minutes away from a tie with a Football League giant.

The Ryman League Division 1 North side won 1-0 at Horsham on Saturday in the 3rd Qualifying Round to secure £7,500 of prize money and a place in the 4th Qualifying Round for the first time since 1931/32 season.

Among the teams they could be drawn against are former league sides Luton Town, Grimsby and Lincoln aswell as nearby Dartford.

Alfie May scored the second-half winner for Kevin Watson’s side who will go into the hat for Monday’s draw along with Dover Athletic, 3-1 winners over AFC Rushden & Diamonds at Crabble, and Ebbsfleet United, who beat Eastbourne Borough 2-0.

Tonbridge Angels and Bromley were upset 2-1 by lower-league St Albans City and Heybridge Swifts while much-fancied Maidstone United lost 2-0 at home to Boreham Wood and Sittingbourne’s run was ended 4-1 at Staines Town.

If Chatham could reach the First Round proper they could be drawn against the likes of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Sheffield United, Preston North End or even Gillingham.
