Rotherham 3 - 0 Gillingham

MANAGER Neale Cooper has demanded his players show their true character after Gillingham slumped to defeat at Rotherham on Saturday.

The Gills boss was furious with his squad after they conceded three second-half goals at Millmoor and felt his side had been "bullied" by the home team.

Cooper said: "We can’t dwell on it, we can only say sorry to the travelling support.

"That won’t happen again and I can guarantee that. I’ve said that to the players, I’m an honest man that way, I don’t try to cover up things and we lost the battle.

"They were stronger and wanted it more than us. I’ve said that in the changing room and if I’ve upset some players then I don’t care as the truth hurts.

"They’ve got to look at themselves in the mirror and ask did they do enough? The majority can say they never.

"It’s up to us now to pick it up again. I can put up with defeat in the right manner, but that was defeat in the wrong manner.

"I want to see a bit of character and bottle, certain players were hiding."

"Players that I’ve praised week in, week out, under-performed. We got bullied by a strong, hard-working Rotherham side."
