Crusaders swoop for teenage pair

SITTINGBOURNE speedway club have moved to significantly strengthen their squad for the remainder of the Conference League campaign.

Harland Cook, an 18-year-old rider from Rye House Raiders, should immediately strengthen the Iwade-based side's spine where too many matches have been cheaply surrendered this season so far.

Crusaders team boss Chris Hunt has also moved to snap up 16-year-old Jerran Hart, who has reached the maximum number of roving Grade One slots.

Hart said: "Two other clubs were after my signature. But I had a good chat with Chris Hunt and I decided to go with my initial judgement and sign with Sittingbourne."

Sittingbourne have a busy period of matches coming up. First up is a home clash this Sunday against one of the top sides in the division, the Oxford Cheetahs.

The action gets underway at noon with a full 32-heat programme of racing on the menu.
