Dale breaks course record

CHARLOTTE DALE smashed the course record by more than a minute during the Tom Joyce Road Relays at Rochester Airport. Dale set a new best time by a woman of 12mins 39secs over the 2.6 mile course to help Invicta East Kent to the team title.

Invicta's four runners finished in a combined time of 59.33, with Dale's team-mate Jan Moorkite clocking the second fastest time in 13.54. Medway & Maidstone were second in 65.12, while Greenwich Triathlon (66.46) finished third.

Blackheath and Bromley took the honours in the men's race in a time of 47.41. They were followed home by Medway & Maidstone A (48.03), Medway & Maidstone B (49.10), Kent AC (50.35) and Sevenoaks (51.18).

The fastest lap of the day came from Anthony Whiteman, running for his second claim club Medway & Maidstone, in 11.13. Dan Ayrton (Blackheath) and Barry Royden (Medway & Maidstone) set the second and third fastest times with 11.27 and 11.46 respectively.

Medway & Maidstone's Graeme Saker was quickest in the men's over-40 category in 12.33, but Kent AC (53.51) were still able to clinch the title.

Invicta East Kent recorded two more successes. They won the men's over-50 event in 55.45 and the women's over-35s in 78.23.

Cambridge Harriers were victorious in the men's over-60, with their four runners completing the course in a total of 70.24.
