Davis targets five wins to avoid relegation

Frank Davis' side currently sit second bottom in Kent 1

Sheppey head coach Frank Davis believes his side need to win five games to avoid relegation from Kent 1.

Freezing conditions meant the pitch at The Ditch was unplayable on Saturday, leaving Sheppey’s home game against second-placed Old Gravesendians to be rescheduled for this weekend.

Despite the club being second bottom in the league, Davis is confident they can turn things round.

He said: “If we won five games I think we’d have half a chance of staying up. But it is out of our hands and we won’t be pin-pointing any games.

“We will go into games with an open mind.”

Daniel Seager, who is a product of the club’s development squad, could make the step up to the first team in the next few weeks.

Davis said: “Daniel is an exciting fly-half who is coming through the development squad. He’s a cocky 17-year-old but you need to have that arrogance.”

Seager will form part of the 2nd XV who take on Greenwich in the Kent Vase on Saturday.
