Welling v AFC Wimbledon

Welling midfielder Lee Blackburn believes the visit of AFC Wimbledon will be a true test of their ability.

The Wings have crept into seventh place in Blue Square South after an impressive run of late, and now lie just a point behind high-flying Wimbledon.

“People are saying that AFC Wimbledon are the benchmark for the league so we’ll put ourselves up against it and see what we can do," said Blackburn.

"We’re going into the game with a lot of confidence now."

A bumper crowd of around 2,000 is expected at Park View Road but Blackburn believes that the atmosphere is unlikely to affect how Welling play.

"When you get out there a lot of the players don’t really notice it," he added. "But I’m sure we’re all looking forward to the game.

"We take each game as it comes, if you start thinking too far ahead then you forget what is in front of you and you fall by the wayside."

Devastated Welling skipper Rob Quinn misses the game against his former club through suspension and on-loan forward Jerome Anderson (hernia) misses out.

The Wings were aiming to draft in Brentford forward Moses Ademola on a one-month loan to add competition up front - but that switch has been delayed after an injury crisis at the League 2 outfit.

Supporters are advised to arrive early to ease congestion at the turnstiles. Both sets of turnstiles will be open, with additional catering facilities being provided.
