INVICTA Dynamos leapfrogged Basingstoke Buffalo into third spot after beating them 8-4 at the Gillingham Ice Bowl.

The win was Dynamos’ fifth from five in the ENIHL South League as they continue to make up ground on the leaders.

Andy Smith scored four goals in the game and duly took the man of the match award.

The Mos didn’t have it all their own way. Stuart Low opened the scoring but Invicta conceded twice and found themselves 2-1 down at the end of the first period.

Within a minute of the restart it was two each as Smith netted his first to convert Ken Forshee’s pass.

Forshee then gave Mos the lead and efforts by Smith and Elliot Andrews put them 5-2 ahead going into the third.

A sixth goal was scored by Smith, slotting high past keeper Craig Astill, and the seventh was calmly steered home by Anthony Lennon.

Drew Campbell pulled one back for Buffalo, but and eighth was tucked away by Smith, before a late goal from the visitors completed the scoring.
