Invicta Dynamos were crowned English National League Champions after winning a dramatic final against Sheffield Scimitars at the Coventry Sky Dome on Sunday night.

It was also the first time in 11 meetings between the clubs that the Dynamos had emerged victorious.

An end to end encounter was finally decided on penalty shots with the Dynamos winning 2-0 after the game had ended level 4-4 in normal time.

The Scimitars went ahead within three minutes, before Martin Melichercik, Ryan Giles and Laurence Billing put the Medway side 3-1 in front.

Sheffield pulled one back only for Milan Kostolny to restore the two goal cushion going into the final period with a short-handed strike.

The Scimitars refused to give up and two goals, one while they were short-handed, levelled the scores.

They almost went on to grab a late winner with an effort that hit the post, before five minutes sudden death overtime failed to separate the sides.

Elliot Andrews missed the Dynamos' first penalty shot, but Joe White saved the opening Scimitars effort.

Milan Kostolny made it 1-0, before White again denied his opponent. It was then left to Andy Smith to step up and blast home the decisive penalty.
