Craig Fagan is glad to be adding his experience to the Gills for the remainder of the season.

The striker began his professional career over a decade ago and is at his eighth different club, having started out at Birmingham.

The 31-year-old, who signed on for the remainder of the season last week, said: “You need to have a mix with the older heads guiding the younger, not just on the pitch but off it, with looking after themselves and preparing themselves right.

“We have that now and I think it is a positive that there is a good blend like that.

“I am pleased to have been asked to stay for the remainder of the season. I have enjoyed my time here, I have felt fitter and am happy to be here.

“I got a thigh injury and that held me back and interrupted things but the injury was a few weeks ago and I am feeling a lot better.

“The main thing is that I have been getting back out there and playing. I have been trying to help the squad playing-wise and with my experience.”

While Fagan adds the experience, boss Peter Taylor has also been busy bringing in young talent like Jack Marriott, Connor Smith and Elliot Hewitt.

“The loan signings have given freshness around the place and they are trying to impress in training. It’s picked the level up again,” the former Hull forward added.
