Matt Fish is ahead of schedule as he continues his rehabilitation from injury.

The Gills right-back has been out after suffering a knee ligament injury in the opening minutes of the league season against Colchester.

But phsyio Gary Hemens is pleased with the 24-year-old’s progress.

He said: “He is in good spirits. He is doing brilliantly and is probably a little bit ahead of schedule.

“I am having to pull the reins in to make sure he doesn’t push himself too hard.

“He has a fantastic attitude to all the work he does and because of that, he has progressed so well.”

The club are still unsure whether Fish will feature again this season. He has a meeting with his consultant in three weeks.
