James Smith knows the importance of picking up league points

Salisbury v Ebbsfleet

Ebbsfleet defender James Smith admitted they have to recover quickly to avoid being drawn into a Blue Square Premier relegation battle.

The Fleet travel to Salisbury on Tuesday night, just days after their grip on the FA Trophy was ended by Stevenage in their semi-final second leg.

Smith said: "We’ve got to put the disappointment behind us and pick ourselves up now because we have got a lot of games coming up.

"We’ll get ourselves together, get back in training and go from there."

Reflecting on the FA Trophy exit, Smith added: "All the boys worked really hard and we are devastated because we thought we could have got something out of the game."

The Fleet could hand on-loan striker Luis Cumbers a starting spot at Salisbury while on-loan Stevenage midfielder John Martin is back after missing the FA Trophy tie under the terms of his loan deal.
