A record deal is being considered for Darius Charles

MyfootballClub members will decide whether Ebbsfleet go ahead with a possible club record £25,000 deal with League 2 promotion contenders Brentford to make Darius Charles' move to Stonebridge Road permanent.

The Fleet will pay £15,000, with a further £10,000 payable on performances for the 21-year old defender, presently sidelined by injury. If it goes through, it will beat the £20,000 paid to Cambridge City for striker Michael Gash.

Ebbsfleet chief executive David Davis said: "We believe this is a great deal for a quality player, and now seek instructions from the club's owners as to whether they wish to proceed with the transfer."

The result of the fans' vote will be announced on Wednesday.

Meanwhile rumours that Charles could be out of action for a further two months have been described as "unfounded". Mr Davis added: "The delay has been due to an initial misdiagnosis, but his cast is expected to be removed on Wednesday, and we hope to see him back in action soon"
