GILLINGHAM are playing the waiting game to find out whether soccer legend Paul Gascoigne will be moving to Priestfield.

Gascoigne is due to inform the club of his decision this week. Meanwhile, Wayne Brown, another player manager Andy Hessenthaler is keen to sign, has been offered a deal.

Brown, 25, has also interested Watford, Wimbledon, Portsmouth and Norwich and is considering his options.

Hessenthaler said of Brown: “We haven't heard from his people but he is the player more important than anything really. We need more cover in defensive areas and it’s important we bring another player in.

“I like Wayne Brown but he has got other options. That is the problem. We'll just have to wait and see. Something might happen before the end of the week but if not we will go to Sheffield Wednesday with the same squad as we had at Bradford.”
