JEPSON: "There were positives to take from the second half but the horse had bolted"

Bristol City 4 Gillingham 3

GILLINGHAM manager Ronnie Jepson was left ruing a dire first half performance that saw his side three goals down at Bristol City on Sunday.

Poor defending gifted City striker Phil Jevons a hat-trick in the opening 45 minutes and, despite a vast improvement after the break, they were unable to recover and crashed out of the FA Cup.

Jepson said: "You can’t give teams like Bristol City three goals like we did.

"At half-time I gave them a choice, they could either embarrass themselves and go hiding or they could go and play for their shirt.

"There were a lot of positives to take from the second half but the horse had bolted by then."
