TOP Gillingham transfer target Lloyd Owusu will decide on his return from holiday next week whether or not to move from Brentford to Priestfield.

Owusu, Brentford’s 28-goal top scorer last season who is available on a Bosman free, met Gillingham player-manager Andy Hessenthaler for talks last week when he was given a tour of Priestfield’s facilities.

Crystal Palace, Sheffield Wednesday and Oldham are also interested in the 25-year-old. But rumours suggesting he had already agreed terms with Gillingham’s arch-rivals Millwall appear wide of the mark. The Lions are keen to sign a replacement for striker Dion Dublin who has returned to Aston Villa after a spell on loan.

A Millwall club spokesman said: “This story linking us with Lloyd Owusu has been going the rounds for some time. Our manager, Mark McGhee, had a good look at him towards the end of last season but I think he's more interested in a player in Scotland at the moment.”

“He's young and looks to have a big future ahead of him. There would be a real buzz about the place if he came here.”
