Gills in trouble over PA announcer's remarks?

GILLINGHAM Football Club could be in hot water with the FA after comments made by their PA announcer Doug Hudson about referee Mike Halsey ahead of the Division 1 home game between Gills and Burnley on Monday.

Halsey, who was in charge of Gillingham’s controversial Division 2 play-off defeat against Manchester City in 1999, was officiating at Priestfield for the first time since.

In that infamous match at Wembley, Halsey added on five minutes of injury time allowing City to come back from two goals down, before eventually winning on penalties.

Hudson was in no mood to let him forget about the game as he stoked up the home fans with a series of remarks about his Wembley performance four seasons ago.

The FA, who always look dimly on anyone who tries to incite crowd misbehavior and particularly towards the referee, are expected to ask Gillingham for their thoughts on the incident.
