Paul Scally says the ball is now in Jason Brown's (pictured) court

GILLINGHAM chairman Paul Scally has hinted that goalkeeper Jason Brown could follow Darren Byfield out of Priestfield.

Last season's top scorer has left the club to join rivals Millwall and Mr Scally admits that the 24-year-old stopper's future is also hanging in the balance.

Mr Scally said: "It’s still on-going. It’s up to Jason Brown, really, but we’re not holding our breath.

"It’s not a derisory offer – it’s substantial and it’s his decision. In the meantime, the manager will be looking at other alternatives."

After the final game of the season at Blackpool, Brown said: "I’ve put in a proposal of what I feel I’m worth and it’s down to the club and I’d like to think they would make a big effort to keep me."
