Loan striker Joe Pigott has been recalled by Charlton Athletic.

Pigott, on loan at Priestfield since the start of February, has been involved in seven games for the Gills and scored in the 2-1 win at Carlisle.

That goal was his only one of the loan spell from the Addicks.

He made four starts for the Gills but never completed 90 minutes for Peter Taylor’s side.

Jose Riga’s Charlton side are deep in relegation trouble and Pigott has been recalled ahead of their trip to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night.

Taylor may now seek a replacement striker ahead of the closure of the loan transfer window on Thursday.

The Gills manager may alternatively look for replacements from within.

Adam Birchall has impressed Taylor in training but has so far made just one brief appearance from the bench.

Antonio German is also back with the Gills, having been sent back earlier this month from his loan spell at Northampton Town.
