Grays' woes could signal return for Thurgood

Stimson doubts Thurgood would return.

Financial problems at Blue Square Premier Grays could see midfielder Stuart Thurgood making a swift return to Gillingham.

Grays announced earlier this week that the loss of sponsorship money would lead to an immediate reduction in their expenditure, including wages.

That promoted speculation of a return for midfielder Thurgood, who is currently on a season-long loan. But Stimson is doubtful Grays will send him back to Priestfield.

“There is a possibility,” he said. “But I spoke to Stuart in the week and he’s one of their first names on the team-sheet. I don’t think it would be a player like him that they would be looking to get rid of, it might be others.”
