GILLINGHAM lost 1-0 at home to QPR to a goal that was scored by the hand of Marcus Bean.

It completed a dismal seven days for Andy Hessenthaler who after losing for the first time ever away at Stoke City in the league and embarrassingly went out of the Carling Cup to Northampton Town, demanded more passion from his players.

He got that, but what he didn’t get was any luck. The officials not only allowed Bean’s goal to stand after the Rangers man slapped the ball past Steve Banks, but all game gave close off-side decisions the way of the visitors.
