Michael Harriman’s brief taste of Premier League football has given him the drive to make it to the top.

The on-loan QPR right-back has appeared in the top flight of English football twice – the last being at Anfield on the final day of last season.

On that day he was attempting to keep the likes of Daniel Sturridge quiet. Games like that aren’t forgotten quickly.

He said: “The Premier League is the place you want to be, it’s where every footballer wants to be.

“To get there you have to keep working hard and striving to achieve it and one day you will.

“I just try and focus on each game, try to be solid and if you can keep putting in good performances, then you will get noticed. That’s what the main job for me is, to just keep doing well for Gillingham and see where we go from there.”

His appearance at Anfield, in front of 45,000 fans, was reward for a successful loan spell at Wycombe in League 2 last season. “You don’t forget those type of matches,” said the 21-year-old.

“What made it special was that it was Jamie Carragher’s last game as well. Anfield was packed and it was mesmerising."
