Head coach Parrish demands improvement

Invicta Dynamos face another testing weekend as they attempt to improve on their poor early season performances.

The Mos travel to Peterborough on Saturday to take on the Islanders in their opening ENIHL Cup fixture, before welcoming Bracknell Hornets to the Ice Bowl on Sunday.

Head coach Kevin Parrish knows that another league defeat on home ice is not an option if his side are to be taken seriously as contenders in South 1 this season.

He said: "The Bracknell game is a massive one for us. We have to take two points out of the game to get our league form back on track. We are going to change the lines around a bit on Saturday, for what is almost a clean start for us, being our first cup game.

"If we can get some confidence going at Peterborough and take it into Sunday’s game, then it will help us greatly. Training has gone well, we’ve gone through the basics and we intend to continue with that this weekend."

The going back-to-basics plan has come in the wake of last Saturday’s 3-3 draw in Bracknell, which Parrish described as "awful" and Sunday’s 6-4 home defeat to Cardiff Dragons.

The Welsh side took advantage of Invicta’s poor finishing and bad discipline to inflict on them their first regular season home league defeat for more than five seasons.

Parrish added: "I don’t want to press the panic button yet. We are only three games into the season and don’t want to start issuing threats about benching players or releasing players. However, if we continue to struggle, then I will have to look at things."
