NYRON Nosworthy’s milestone 100th appearance for Gillingham was ruined after the first red card of his career against Wolves last night.

His dismissal dashed any hopes of Gills securing a third successive victory as Wolves made their extra man tell to cruise to a 4-0 victory.

Player-manager Andy Hessenthaler believed the decision to dismiss Nosworthy was a huge blow because his team were on top although he admitted it looked a penalty. He said: “It was a difficult shout but probably a penalty, although the sending-off was harsh because there were a lot of bodies in there.

“Without a doubt the game turned on the sending off because, up until then, we were by far the better side."

Hessenthaler admitted he was disappointed with some of the goals conceded, but said: “I'm not going to criticise my players because we played most of the game with 10 men against a fine footballing side."
