Hill loses assistant manager's title

RICHARD HILL has lost the title of Gillingham's assistant manager as player-manager Andy Hessenthaler shakes up his chain of command in preparation for the new season.

Hill will assume the title of joint head coach, which he will share with Wayne Jones who had previously been titled first team coach. The changes come into effect for the start of the 2002-2003 campaign.

Because of financial constraints caused by the collapse of ITV Digital, neither will be given new long-term contracts when their existing deals expire at the end of the month. Both will remain at the club working on weekly contracts.
