History points to Kent victory

Simon Cook is hoping for a recall

Kent Spitfires v Glamorgan Dragons

KENT'S four-day form has been about as predictable as the weather so far this summer but, after three successive qualifying wins, at least Spitfires lie top of the Friends Provident Trophy southern conference.

With six points from four starts they lead Surrey Brown Caps by one, though Mark Butcher's side may yet reclaim the lead should they win their game in hand.

Rob Key's side have had all week to re-charge their batteries ahead of Sunday's fifth of nine qualifiers when Glamorgan Dragons travel to Canterbury for a 10.45am start.

The Welsh side appear to be vying with Ireland for the southern conference wooden spoon having failed to win any of their opening three games.

History as well as recent form point to another Kent win, indeed Glamorgan have only ever beaten Spitfires once in this competition.

Last year at Sophia Gardens, Kent cantered to a 41-run victory at Sophia Gardens after amassing 332 for four – their highest ever limited overs score against Glamorgan.

Kent will be hoping to hand out similar punishment this weekend when Neil Dexter seems almost certain to regain his place having missed Kent's humiliating championship defeat in Durham.

Simon Cook, the bowler to be controversially dropped from that game, will also be looking for a recall, probably at the expense of Robbie Joseph.

Kent from: Hall, Stevens, van Jaarsveld, Walker, Key, Denly, Arafat, Dexter, Jones, Tredwell, Cook, McLaren, Joseph.
